Can you develop asthma from inhaling a lot of dust during a period of a couple weeks?

My dad has been doing construction around the house, and he has been inhaling a lot of dust. Last night, he experienced shortness of breath, and when he tried using this machine type thing used to help asthma patients breathe, he felt a lot better.

Could he be developing asthma? Is there any way to stop it while it’s in its early stage?
Thanks in advance.

if he is allergic to the dust ( which most ppl are) then the allergies could be a pre cursor to asthma.
As far as I know the only possible ways to prevent it is diet and exercise. Being overweight is also a pre cursor. As well as acid reflux. Could also be heriditary.

NO but serious of harmful allergies and allergens can be brought out that he never knew he had….go to a doctor to describe his symptoms. IT should be nothing like asthma, but some seruiosu allergy perscription could save him some pain.

Well, he can use a mask while he is doing construction. That will help reduce the amt. of dust he is inhaling.

He could. I can’t think of a way to stop it, but asthma doesn’t ruin your life. He can deal. Millions of people do. He could also wear a mask, I guess.
